A delegation from Utah met this summer with Chinese scholars, scientists, and government officials in Wuxi, China, to discuss collaborative efforts on environmental and renewable energy issues.
Several deadlines for undergraduate research opportunities (for both faculty and students) are approaching in October and November. These conferences, grants, and events are excellent ways to get further involved in undergraduate research, and to get recognition for projects.
In an effort to more fully develop Utah State University’s focus on worldwide involvement, USU’s international education and research activities have been combined into a new Office of Global Engagement.
David Paul, director of USU’s Sponsored Programs Office, will leave USU Oct. 30 to direct sponsored programs at the University of Las Vegas. Sponsored Programs Assistant Director Jeff Coleman will assume Paul’s responsibilities as interim director.
Brent Miller, vice president for research at Utah State University, has been selected to chair two national research organizations.

It’s not every day you receive a special delivery and certainly not one from outer space. But Utah State University physicists have received an experiment they built that’s been flying on the International Space Station since March 2008.
On a recent September afternoon, students from a Utah State University watershed sciences class headed to Utah’s Cutler Reservoir with the intent to learn more about the diversity of fishes found in the man-made lake.
