Congressional Funding

As in years past, Federal and State Relations is continuing a systematic process of coordinating congressionally-directed funding, and I invite you to submit requests for FY 2011. Requests received by the due date will be discussed and prioritized here on campus in an effort to increase our chances of obtaining congressional funding for each project. Please remember that the University coordinates its funding requests to maximize funding potential University-wide. A variety of factors is taken into consideration when deciding priorities, and often seemingly worthy projects are not funded as they do not best correspond to federal funding priorities and political realities.

A Congressional Funding Request Seminar will be held on campus to provide a step-by-step explanation of information needed for requests. Please plan to attend this informative seminar that will be presented by Michael Kennedy and David Lee (of Lee & Smith, PC) on  Friday, November 6, 2009, in the Old Main Champ Conference Room. For your convenience, two sessions will be offered from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 Noon, and 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Please circulate this message to anyone who might be making a congressionally-directed funding request and note the following:

  • Deadline for submitting requests is November 20, 2009
  • Limit the request to no more than two pages
  • Use the defined format provided MS Word 2003, MS Word 2007, RTF
  • Submit request(s) electronically as an attachment to the appropriate dean.
