Three USU Engineering Researchers Receive Top Honors

Brent Stucker, Tony Whitmore and Kevin Womack, faculty members in USU’s College of Engineering, have received prestigious honors this year for their work.

 

Brent Stucker was recently elected chairman of the Committee F42 on Additive Manufacturing Technologies within the American Society for Testing and Materials. Stucker is an associate professor in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department and is also director of the Advanced Manufacturing and Materials Laboratory, which creates novel structures from Laser Engineering Net Shaping, precision welding, and other advanced material systems.

 

 

 

Tony Whitmore, assistant professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering, was named the 2009 Engineering Educator of the Year by the Utah Engineers Council.  UEC is an umbrella organization of more than a dozen different engineering societies working together to advance the art and science of engineering and to provide a forum for communication among various engineering societies.  Whitmore is also mentor for USU’s award-winning Chimaera Rocket Team.

 

 

 

Kevin Womack, was recently named at-large director of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the oldestnation engineering society.  Womack is a professor of civil and environmental engineering and director of the Utah Transportation Center at USU.  Womack has held many positions in ASCE, including congressional fellow.
