Fueling the Future: Biofuels for Economic Development and Quality of Life

Developing a supply of sustainable, clean, and secure energy is perhaps the most important scientific challenge facing humanity in the 21st century. Right now, a Utah State University team is developing new and emerging technologies that will produce methane, biodiesel, hydrogen, and alcohols from renewable, CO2 neutral energy sources such as consumer and agricultural waste and sunlight. The Biofuels Program at USU is one of the programs funded in part through the Utah Science Technology and Research Initiative. USTAR makes highly-selective, strategic investments in research with the potential to bring prominence to Utah’s economy.
