Over the past few decades women have received advanced degrees and entered professions such as law, medicine, accounting and academics at dramatically increasing rates. However, women have not reached the highest levels of these fields at the rates that one would expect from their rates of entry. This presentation will outline obstacles that still remain for the careers of professional and academic women, includinggender stereotypes and organizations structured around ideal workers. Several strategies will be presented for creating change within organizations based on successful changes initiated at Utah State University during the last six years.
