Undergraduate Research Faculty Mentor of the Year


Sara Freeman is an assistant professor in the Department of Biology. Dr. Freeman has mentored 17 undergraduate researchers since her arrival at Utah State less than 3 years ago. 

She has trained numerous undergraduates in historical preparation of brain tissue that will aid them in future academic and career opportunities. The Freeman Lab is active in sharing research results with the scientific and broader communities.

She was awarded the Best Poster Award from the Society of Social Neuroscience in 2021, where half of the data included was generated by undergraduate researchers in her lab.
