Biography

Sasha Broadstone is a Coordinator and Certified IRB Professional in the USU Human Research Protection Program. Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, she has lived and worked in eight different states across the country prior to settling in Logan. Sasha’s educational background includes a B.S. in Plant Biology from Purdue University and a M.S. in Geography from Texas A&M University. Prior to becoming a Coordinator with the HRP Office, she worked as a botanist with both the Bureau of Land Management and the US Forest Service. She then transitioned to the nonprofit sector, working to promote urban food justice before becoming Director of Education for Stokes Nature Center when she moved to Logan.
Whether conducting field research for the federal government, working with unhoused populations, promoting sustainable agriculture and access to fresh and healthy food, or providing environmental education, Sasha has continued to invest her time and experience in organizations that work to bring about positive change. As a Human Research Protections Coordinator, she is tasked with upholding a high standard of ethical practice, social justice, and research integrity. Outside of work, Sasha enjoys spending time with her family, reading novels, attending to the many plants around her home and garden, going on hikes and camping trips, and traveling to new places.
