IRB to broadcast webinar series
All USU faculty are invited to attend a new webinar series offered by the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs. It will be broadcast on Apr. 26 from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. at the Merrill Cazier Library, room 122.
The Educational Webinar Series discusses ethical requirements when conducting exempt research. Research that is determined to be exempt from regulations must still be conducted under ethical standards and respecting the rights and welfare of the participants.
“AAHRPP’s webinar is cost effective, convenient and can encourage greater participation because it saves time and travel expense,” said True Rubal, IRB administrator. “The greatest benefit is the ability to expand training and the ability to download materials to be printed or kept as a reference.”
AAHRPP is a nonprofit organization that accredits human research protection programs worldwide. The organization’s mission is to promote a national uniform standard and ensure research compliance. There are a total of 265 accredited organizations.
“Some advantages of USU’s membership include ‘high standards and protections, an assurance of quality, improved efficiency and effectiveness, government recognition, a competitive edge, and public trust and confidence,’” said Rubal.
