What is Kuali Research?
Kuali Research is a newly developed electronic grant proposal program. Through Kuali professionals can create, apply for and track their grant proposals. Kuali also helps individuals after a grant has been received by storing pertinent information.
Pre-Award: Kuali Research allows for the preparation of electronic proposals (both new and copied from prior works), routing to obtain internal approvals, and system –to-system submission to sponsors. Additionally, it allows for proposals logs, research tracking and grants.gov submissions.
Post-Award: After receiving a grant, Kuali stores detailed information on awards, sponsors specific terms and conditions, reporting requirements and tracking functionality, as well as required special reviews for the award. Complementary modules, such as Award Budget, SubAward, Negotiation, and Report Tracking can also be utilized for compliance throughout the research administration processing.
How does Kuali work?
First, decide how you can best use Kuali Research. What you use Kuali for will determine what authorizations you will need.
Second, apply for authorization. This can be done by contacting your department’s Primary Authorizer to get access via the Roles database to Kuali Research. (Explain this. See if we can create a list of who these people are/will be. List and links to emails would be preferred.)
Third, access Kuali. To login use your Kerberos username and password. PC users that have already authenticated to other Kerberos applications (e.g., WIN domain, SAP) will not be prompted for a username/password. Mac users may be prompted to re-enter their Kerberos ID/password combination in a dialogue box.
