Data Storage and Public Access

USU researchers who need to make research data publicly accessible can consult with a designated librarian about including it in the University’s official institutional data repository (DigitalCommons@USU). Please email researchdata@usu.edu to arrange a consultation.

Permanent Public Access
Data stored on a locally-based server DOES NOT MEET USU's obligation for permanent public access. Data that results from a federally funded research project must be transferred to a public repository, discipline-specific repository, or DigitalCommons@USU to meet this obligation.

USU Hosted Datasets & Data Access

USU can host datasets in DigitalCommons@USU, where data will be publicly available for download, backed up, and monthly usage reports provided to the researcher. Even if data is hosted elsewhere, contact the Merrill-Cazier Library to arrange for a link to appear in DigitalCommons@USU, which will help increase the discoverability of data.

For any questions regarding data storage or public accessibility of data, please email researchdata@usu.edu.
