Prerequisite
Applicants must complete the faculty grant writing seminar to be eligible for the seed grant program.

Grant-Writing Experience Through Mentorship (GEM) Faculty appointment as defined in USU Policy 401, with less than 4 years in rank

Completion of the faculty grant writing seminar
1 year

$10,000 max
Cycle 1 - June 15
Cycle 2 - January 15

Check with college to determine internal review due dates
Develop and submit an external grant proposal within 3 months of GEM award end date.

Resubmission is encouraged if external proposal is not funded.
Research Catalyst (RC) Faculty appointment as defined in USU Policy 401

Completion of the faculty grant writing seminar
1 year

$20,000 max
Cycle 1 - June 15
Cycle 2 - January 15

Check with college to determine internal review due dates
Develop and submit an external grant proposal within 3 months of RC award end date.

Resubmission is encouraged if external proposal is not funded.
Seed Program To Advance Research Collaboration (SPARC) Faculty appointment as defined in USU Policy 401, and must also engage faculty from more than 1 department, research center, college, or institution

Completion of the faculty grant writing seminar
1 year

$35,000 max
Cycle 1 - June 15
Cycle 2 - January 15

Check with college to determine internal review due dates
Develop and submit an interdisciplinary external grant proposal seeking >$1M within 3 months of SPARC award end date.

Resubmission is encouraged if external proposal is not funded.
