USU Statewide Student Research Symposium

What is this event?

The Statewide Student Research Symposium is a sister event for the Student Research Symposium that happens on the USU Logan Campus April 8-9. It is an opportunity for USU students doing research across the state to present to theirs peers, faculty, and the general public.

When is it happening?

Friday April 11th

  • 1PM: Short (3-4 minute) oral presentations at all campuses. 
    • The top 3 presenters for these online talks will each receive a $200 Amazon gift card.
  • 2:15PM:  Poster sessions at Vernal, Price, and Moab campuses
    • There will be prizes for these poster sessions.

  • Moab: Rooms 110/120
  • Brigham City: Room C113
  • Price/Eastern: Lobby of CIB
  • Blanding: Large Conference Room, Admin Building
  • Tooele: MPR, Science and Tech Building
  • Vernal: Mezzanine Area
  • Salt Lake: Room 142

Who can participate?

Any student affiliated with a USU Statewide campus or taking a Statewide class

Who can attend?

Everyone!

How to present?

  • Oral presentations will be short, 3 or 4-minute “lightning” talks.  You will typically prepare a PowerPoint presentation.
  • For the poster sessions, you can create a research poster or present your art or creative products.
  • Tips and resources for both Oral and Poster presentations can be found below.

What can be presented?

Research that students participate in, including class or independent projects. All areas of inquiry are welcome including humanities, social science, and art.

Better Visual Design Workshop

The Office of Research is hosting a workshop for students in Library room 154 and online via Zoom at 1:30 on March 26th on how to design better research presentations. This seminar will teach you about research communication and design best practices. We'll introduce you to the USU poster templates, talk slide decks, and get you started in building your presentations.
