Events and Marketing Student Assistant
The Office of Research is seeking an Events & Marketing Student Assistant to support student research initiatives and programs. You will work in a flexible, dynamic, and supportive environment on a variety of projects and tasks, all aimed at supporting our undergraduate research (UR) community. You’ll collaborate closely with our Data & Programs Assistant, taking ownership of specific projects while engaging in shared responsibilities.
Duties
- Event Design and Execution: Assist in designing, planning, and executing academic, recognition, and social events for UR students and mentors. Ensure events run smoothly and meet the intended goals.
- Publicity and Marketing: Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote events and programs, including creating engaging content for social media, managing event promotions, and coordinating with campus and community media outlets to enhance visibility and participation.
- Student and Alumni Spotlight: Identify and feature outstanding student researchers and alumni through various channels such as newsletters, social media, and campus publications, highlighting their achievements and contributions to inspire and engage the research community.
- Reporting and Analysis: Process and analyze the effectiveness of outreach strategies to track success and identify areas for improvement.
Qualifications
Required
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Current Utah State University student on the Logan campus
- Proficient with digital tools and systems, and able to learn new ones when necessary
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred
- Experience or involvement in Undergraduate Research programs (UR)
- Experience in event planning or program coordination
- Familiarity with data analysis and/or graphic design software

- A short writing sample indicative of their skills in communicating with general audiences, e.g. a press release, informative e-mail, museum didactic text, or other public-audience directed communication. Examples of previous work in museum and exhibition design also welcome.
