Dr. Ning Fang has been a faculty member at Utah State University for 23 years since 2001. He is widely recognized as one of the leading researchers and experts in the emerging discipline of engineering education, which aims to educate and prepare a high-quality engineering workforce to meet the nation’s pressing need for a substantial number of engineers with high professional knowledge and skills. He has conducted a significant amount of research in this new discipline, and his efforts cover many critical topics, such as developing innovative educational technologies to enhance teaching and learning in the engineering classroom, applying educational data mining techniques for decision- and policy-making in engineering education, and investigating best practices in engineering workforce development. Dr. Fang has authored and co-authored 194 refereed publications, including 98 papers in refereed journals and 96 papers in referred conference proceedings. He has been the Principal Investigator of 10 highly competitive federal grants, including 9 National Science Foundation (NSF) projects and one U.S. Economic Development Administration project. He was awarded a prestigious U.S. Fulbright Scholar Award. In addition, he served as a Program Director in the NSF’s Division of Undergraduate Education and directed four undergraduate programs in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
