Animal, Dairy and Veterinary Sciences

I grew up in Bellingham, Washington, which is about 90 miles north of Seattle. After finishing high school, I attended Washington State University and received my Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Sciences. After finishing my undergraduate work, I returned to Bellingham for a short period of time before moving to Boise, Idaho to begin working full time for my family’s business, Udder Health Systems. My Dad is a veterinarian who practices preventative medicine in the form of milk quality and mastitis control in dairy cows and he began Udder Health Systems when I was a small child. I spent 10 years, from 2004-2014, working for the company before the opportunity to pursue a graduate degree came along. Although it was difficult to uproot an established life in Boise, I wanted a graduate education and so I moved to Logan, which brings me to where I am today. However, Boise and Idaho in general is the place I now call home and will return there once I finish my doctorate, to begin my career as Laboratory Director of Udder Health Systems.

In my free time, I am an avid outdoor recreationalist. I enjoy trail running, mountain biking, backcountry skiing, Nordic skiing and CrossFit. Although I grew up on the coast, the intermountain West has captured my heart and where I foresee living indefinitely. Frequently my adventure companion is my 90-pound Rhodesian Ridgeback, Stella. In addition to my outdoor pursuits, I have traveled to 14 countries with the hope of adding many more.
