Kristen Koci is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Sociology at Utah State University. Her major area of interest is in Environment and Community, with a minor focus in Social Inequality. Kristen is a native Texan who received her B.S. in Sociology from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, immediately beginning her graduate studies at USU upon her graduation in 2017. Kristen’s current and on going research at USU examines health risk perceptions related to the use of treated wastewater and irrigation water in Northern Utah. She is involved in a project exploring well-being in Utah as well. Since arriving at USU,Kristen has published one journal article (which is also a book chapter),presented at two conferences (one national / one international), won three awards, and served as the treasurer for the Sociology Graduate Student Association (her current position). Most recently, Kristen’s work has been accepted for publication in the International Public Health Journal. Kristen’s main research interests lie in community, community development, community well-being, rural sociology, natural resource sociology, and inequality.
