Nathan Speirs

Nathan Speirs received his BS in mechanical engineering from Brigham Young University in 2015, and is currently working on a PhD in the same field at Utah State University. Nathan’s research focuses on the impact of liquid droplet trains and jets on a free surface of water with goals to improve United States Naval technologies. His other research interests in the realm of fluid dynamics including anti-bubble formation, water entry, table tennis, and paint pouring for which he won the Milton Van Dyke Award for a video submissions at the annual American Physical Society Division of Fluid Dynamics Meeting. He currently is an author on two scientific papers and has two papers in preparation to be submitted for publication in peer-reviewed journals as first author in the coming months. Nathan also loves staying physically fit, running half marathons and triathlons and participating in may other fun physical activities like weight lifting, hiking, and rock climbing. In addition to all of this Nathan serves in his church and is a husband and father of two children with whom he loves to spend his time.
