Emily Wilkins is a PhD student in the Institute of Outdoor Recreation and Tourism and the Department of Environment and Society. Emily joined Dr.Jordan Smith’s lab in 2017 after previously working as a social scientist for the US Geological Survey (USGS). She is also part of the interdisciplinary Climate Adaptation Science program here at Utah State and studies how weather and climate change impact outdoor recreation and public lands visitation. Emily’s current research also aims to better understand how to use geotagged social media data to estimate visitation on public lands.Emily earned her M.S. from the University of Maine in Forest Resources and her B.S. from Drake University in Environmental Science and Policy. In her free time, Emily loves to hike, camp, run, garden, and bake.
