Julena M. Bonner, an assistant professor of management in the Huntsman school of business, conducts research that helps organizations understand employee and leader dysfunctional workplace behaviors more clearly and provides solutions for how to mitigate dysfunctional behaviors in the workplace, such as unethical behaviors.

She has a master’s degree in business administration and a Ph. D. in business administration, specializing in organizational behavior, from Oklahoma State University. Before pursuing her doctoral studies, she gained valuable workplace experience working for a large non-profit (the US Ski and Snowboard Association) and as a small business owner. Dr. Bonner’s research specifically focuses on: 1) the ways in which employee emotions and affect influences organizational outcomes, such as (un)ethical/dysfunctional behaviors, 2) the antecedents and consequences of dysfunctional behavior at work and 3) the role of leaders and coworkers in promoting or mitigating (un)ethical/dysfunctional workplace behavior.

Her research has been published in high-quality journals such as the Journal of Applied Psychology, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Human Relations, Journal of Organizational Behavior, and Journal of Business Ethics. In addition, her work has been featured on FOX 13 news, Utah Public Radio, Forbes (India), Reddit, and a variety of workplace oriented websites and podcasts.
