Faculty Researcher of the Year 

Sherzod Akhundjanov is an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Economics at Utah State University. He holds an M.S. in statistics and a Ph.D. in economics from Washington State Uni- versity. His doctoral dissertation was selected as the 2017 Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award (Honorable Mention) of the Agricultural and Applied Economics Association. Dr. Akhundjanov’s research agenda is influenced by the needs of stakeholders in Utah, as well as national and interna- tional public policy issues. His research has appeared in numerous leading academic journals and been covered by popular media outlets, including The Washington Post and The Salt Lake Tribune. The importance and quality of Dr. Akhundjanov’s research program have been recognized within the economics and applied social sciences profession with the 2021 Quality of Research Discover Award (Honorable Mention) of the Agricultural and Applied Economics Association (AAEA) and the 2020 Outstanding Published Research Award of the Western Agricultural Economics Associa- tion (WAEA). Dr. Akhundjanov has a demonstrated commitment to collaborative, interdisciplinary, and extension work. His research has garnered grant funding from the Agriculture and Food Re- search Initiative competitive grants program of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the National Institute of Food and Agriculture.
