Faculty Researcher of the Year 

Mollie (she/her/hers) is an Assistant Professor of Communication Studies. Her research utilizes rhetorical criticism and theory to examine how advocates for social and environmental justice navigate rhetorical challenges. Mollie is most invested in studying rhetorics of activists (such as Rachel Carson and Dolores Huerta) who have achieved success in challenging the status quo to remove barriers to justice. Mollie has presented her work on three “top paper” panels at the National Communication Association, and her work has been published in outlets including (but not limited to) Women’s Studies in Communication, the Western Journal of Communication, the Howard Journal of Communications, the Southern Communication Journal, Argumentation and Advocacy, and Frontiers in Communication. She has also authored collaborative works pertaining to social justice and pedagogy. Here at USU, Mollie teaches courses in rhetorical criticism (at the graduate and undergraduate level), gender communication, and environmental activism.
