Born and raised in Egypt, Mahmoud joined Utah State University in 2015 as an undergraduate student and has been an active member in the research community. Starting his sophomore year, Mahmoud joined the perception Action lab where he developed an automated lab environment and managed studies in neural behavior. In 2017, he joined the Utah State University Power Electronics Lab. His research covered a wide range of topics, including micro grid applications, evaluation of smart inverters, and development of high-power AC-DC converters. Mahmoud is currently seeking his master’s degree at the Power Electronics Lab. He is developing a high power medium voltage AC-DC converter that will be deployed at the Port of LA to demonstrate wireless charging for electric drayage trucks. Upon the completion of his master’s degree, Mahmoud will be looking to expand his industrial research experience before seeking a PhD. He hopes to one day lead his own power electronics research group.
