Communicative Disorders and Deaf Education

Camille Wynn is in her final year of a master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology in the Department of Communicative Disorders and Deaf Education. As valedictorian of the department, Camille received a Bachelor of Science degree in Communicative Disorders and a minor in Linguistics in 2015. She began her master’s degree the same year. Under the mentorship of Dr. Stephanie Borrie, Camille has been doing research into speech entrainment patterns in children and adults with autism spectrum disorder. This is a new area of study for the field, and the findings of her thesis project suggest the presence of speech entrainment deficits in populations autism spectrum disorder. In addition to her research project, Camille has maintained a 3.97 GPA while working as a teaching assistant and completing weekly clinical hours in the USU Speech-Language-Hearing Center. She also enjoys volunteer work as a refugee resettlement mentor. Camille has interned at the University of Utah’s medical neurorehabilitation clinic and Cache Valley School District. She is currently completing a clinical externship at Emerge Autism Clinic in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she is also collaborating on research examining the acoustic-prosodic features that characterize the speech of children with autism spectrum disorder.
