Jared Hansen

Dr. Jared M. Hansen, Associate Professor of Marketing, finds great meaningfulness in developing people, including mentoring students of any major, level, or location. He is currently working with several undergraduate students from multiple colleges on different research projects and helping them prepare to apply to graduate school (masters or doctoral programs), in addition to chairing four dissertations. He covers philosophy of science, theory construction, ethics and GenAI usage, research methods, and other topics in instructing his students. Hansen developed curriculum materials to teach students how to create new theory and publish it, which he has taught to undergraduate students at USU and guest-presented to students at other universities in the USA, Europe, and Scandinavia. He regularly mentors groups of business students presenting their findings at case competitions. He looks for opportunities to publish with undergraduate students in conferences and journals—and have them present the research with him at those conferences. Hansen represents the College of Business on USU’s Undergraduate Research Advisory Board and is a regular judge at the university student research symposiums, as well as the annual business school symposiums. He believes mentorship does not end at graduation--he received a best conference paper award last fall with a group of his former students.
