Watershed Sciences

Research in the Brahney lab is structured around multi-disciplinary approaches to further our understanding of aquatic ecosystem processes and how they may change. Our lab uses a variety of tools including sediment and soil geochemistry, water chemistry, and taxonomy of aquatic organisms. These tools and techniques are broadly applicable to a variety of environmental problems and our research themes can be separated into 1) Anthropogenic Controls on Nutrient Cycles, and 2) Ecohydrology, and 3) Applications of Geochemistry to Aquatic Ecology. Within these themes, my students and I aim to conduct research that advances our understanding of complex ecosystem-environment relationships and how humans modify and interact with these systems.
