Engineering Education

Dr. Wade Goodridge is currently an Assistant Professor in Engineering Education in the College of Engineering. Dr. Goodridge is a strong advocate on the importance of undergraduate research and its ability to introduce, prepare, and develop students to become better professional engineers or to proceed into graduate opportunities. His research interests include spatial cognition, creativity, and mindsets of engineering students and their correlation to success academically. Dr. Goodridge is currently entering his third year as an Engineering Councilor for the Council on Undergraduate Research. Within this nationally elected calling, and with help from graduate students who are great undergraduate mentors, Dr. Goodridge has engaged undergraduate students in research targeting Water Quality/Hydraulics and Engineering Education. In total, he has worked with 24 separate undergraduate researchers with outcomes that often culminate in conference publications. While Dr. Goodridge credits a great deal of his success working with undergraduate researchers to the inspiring leadership shown by his graduate students who team with the undergraduates, he would also like to acknowledge his undergraduate researchers’ excellent commitment. Dr. Goodridge hopes to continue working with USU’s excellent engineering students to allow them to develop qualities that should lead to success
