Dr. Kelsey Hall is an assistant professor and program coordinator in agricultural communication and journalism. Since 2011, her undergraduate mentoring activities have involved 2 teaching fellowships, 3 Undergraduate Research and Creative Opportunities (URCO) grant projects, 15 independent undergraduate projects, and 1 honors research project. Dr. Hall has supervised 15 undergraduate researchers who have contributed to 9 conference presentations, 3 peer-reviewed journal articles, 7 peer-reviewed university Extension fact sheets, and 1 training manual for growers and Extension educators about community supported agriculture. Most of Dr. Hall’s research explores how knowledge, attitudes, demographics, psychographics, barriers, benefits, communication strategies, and other factors about food marketing and agricultural practices influence the behaviors of farmers, consumers, and policy makers. Many of her research projects identify how stakeholder groups can impact their communities through the local food movement. She is an award-winning researcher receiving the Outstanding Research Paper, Top Thesis Award, and Outstanding Research Proposal from the Association for Communication Excellence (ACE). She has co-authored award-winning research papers and posters, including the American Association for Agricultural Education 2017 and 2016 Western Region’s Distinguished Research Poster Presentations, ACE Top Research Paper, and Journal of Applied Communications Research Article of the Year.
