Crescencio López González

Crescencio López-González is an Assistant Professor of Latinx Studies at Utah State University. He graduated from the University of Arizona with an emphasis in U.S. Latinx Urban Literature and Culture. His research focuses on analyzing the works of Latinx authors who write about the city in which they were raised and how growing-up in these environments shaped their lives, their communities, and their future. In his analysis, he uses an interdisciplinary approach drawing from sociology, cultural studies, cultural geography, and urban studies. His forthcoming book is titled The Latinx Urban Experience: Trauma, Memory, and Desire in Latinx Literature and Culture. Having received his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Davis and his doctorate from the University of Arizona, two land-grant universities, he firmly believes in the land-grant mission of bringing research-based knowledge to undergraduate students. Last academic year, he prepared 19 students who presented at four different symposiums: at the Southwest Council of Latin American Studies at the University of Campeche, Mexico; at the Annual Utah Research on Capitol Hill in Salt Lake City, Utah; at the Utah State Merrill-Cazier Library; and at the Annual LPCS Student Research Symposium. In the past four years, he has prepared a total of 58 undergraduate students.
