Austin is mentored by Dr. Timothy Walsworth and Kevin Landom, where he studies the ecosystem of Utah Lake and its resident native June Sucker. He is now investigating how various nonnative predators affect June sucker survival. Austin has been described as having a rare enthusiasm, with excitement that shines through as he assists others in his lab. Recently, he presented his findings at the 2022 annual Utah Chapter American Fisheries Society conference, and he is now working on a manuscript to submit to the Transaction of the American Fisheries Society for publication.
