Rylee Jensen

S.J. & Jessie E. Quinney College of Natural Resources

Wildland Resources

Rylee is a senior in Wildlife Ecology & Management with a minor in Statistics. She is from Clinton, Utah and has had a passion for the natural world her entire life. Through the field experience she has gained and people she has met at Utah State University, she’s been able to participate in truly amazing experiences over the years including tracking cougars in Oregon and collecting data for the famous Isle Royale Wolf-Moose Project. Rylee is also one of the lucky few who discovered her passion for research early on. A trip to San Juan Island, Washington in 2014 set the course for her undergraduate thesis project, in which she examined “percussive” behavior among age and sex classes in a killer whale population. Now a senior in Wildlife Ecology, Rylee has submitted this paper for publication and is focusing her career on carnivore behavior. She could not have achieved this success without the support and guidance of her primary research mentor Dr. Julie Young and the advice of faculty mentor Dr. Dan MacNulty. She is eager to graduate in May and take advantage of opportunities the world has to offer.
