Research Experience
Utah Science Technology and Research Bioinnovations Center Dr. Ronald Sims
Research Assistant 2013 – Present
• Developed a Lipoprotein Extraction Procedure for bioproduction of various products from algae. Bioproducts include: high-protein animal feed, bioplastics, and biodiesel. Reduced chemical cost by 98%.
• Improved the production of bioplastic, poly-3-hydroxybutyrate, in recombinant E. coli using aqueous byproduct produced from different acid/base concentrations of Utah State University’s Wet Lipid Extraction Procedure.
Johnson Space Center Dr. William Wallace

Research Apprentice Summer 2015
• Worked in Biomedical and Environmental Science Labs at NASA’s Johnson Space Center to broaden the capabilities of environmental quality monitoring.
• Developed novel technique to measure water quality in microgravity.
• Networked with NASA researchers and astronauts and completed project presentation
