Tiffany Maughan is a senior majoring in horticulture with an emphasis in business in the Department of Plant, Soils and Climate. Carrying a 3.83 GPA, her academic performance has earned her multiple honors including the Dean’s List, USU Scholar, and multiple scholarships. She currently works as an undergraduate research intern with Dr. Brent Black. Her latest research project focuses on optimizing a commercial system for high tunnel strawberry production. She recently received the Best Poster Award in the Life Sciences Division at the USU 2011 Undergraduate Research Showcase for her presentation on preliminary results of the project. She presented her final results at the American Society for Horticulture Science meeting in September 2011. In addition to her academic abilities, Tiffany has excellent communication skills. She has served as a student ambassador for the College of Agriculture since 2009, visiting high schools across the state to inform students about the many opportunities available in the College of Agriculture and she recently joined the College of Agriculture Student Council. Upon completing her final year of undergraduate work, her goal is to begin her master’s degree in plant science as a step to becoming an Extension agent with a focus on fruit production.
