Withdrawal

If a student withdraws from the Peak Summer Research Fellowship prior to May there will be no penalty and a runner-up will be offered the position.

If a student withdraws from the Peak Summer Research Fellowship during the ten-week program they will lose the scholarships funds not yet paid out. If the withdrawal is due to legitimate medical or personal reasons, there will be no further penalty. If a student stops participating with no valid reasons for withdrawal, already paid scholarship funds may be recuperated by the Office of Research.

Program Follow Up

Students will be required to complete a report at the end of the ten-week fellowship period. This consists of a short statement of research achievements and an evaluation of the program. Mentors will also be asked to provide feedback via a survey.

We plan to track Peak Summer Research Fellow alumni as they progress in their careers, including occasional surveys relating to their experience applying for national scholarships and graduate schools. Providing this information will be optional but will help us build the program and provide more incentive for donors to support summer research at USU. Participation in post-program communication will help pay it forward to future generations of student researchers.
