Future of Food

The Office of Research is promoting opportunities to help USU's cadre of high-achieving researchers continue their quest for discovery. To promote engagement around societally important research areas affecting Utah, the nation and world, the Office of Research will be hosting a series of Research Summits for researchers wanting to build relationships across campus on these key topic areas.

Future of Food

The summit was held on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at the Maverick Stadium Champions Club (3rd Floor) and was focused on the future of food. 

A Zoom option was available for faculty who are not based on the Logan campus.

The program featured:

  • A panel of leading experts discussing the future of food and the potential impact of collaborative research at USU
  • Insights into external funding opportunities related to food issues
  • Networking opportunities for building research teams and partnerships

The panel members included:

  • Carrie Durward - Associate Professor, College of Agriculture & Applied Sciences, Department of Nutrition, Dietetics & Food Sciences
  • Lindsie McCabe - Research Entomologist, US Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Research Service, Pollinating Insect-Biology, Management, Systematics Research Unit
  • Stephan Van Vliet - Assistant Professor, College of Agriculture & Applied Sciences, Department of Nutrition, Dietetics & Food Sciences
  • Juan Villalba - Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Programs, S.J. & Jessie E. Quinney College of Natural Resources; Professor, Department of Wildland Resources
