Innovation Disclosure

New innovations developed at Utah State University should be disclosed to Technology Transfer promptly after their discovery. Timely disclosure is required by policy and helps ensure compliance with federal and contractual requirements, proper protection of rights, and maximizing of the innovation’s commercial and market potential (see USU Policy 4106: Intellectual Property).

The disclosure form includes questions, prompts, and explanations that will help guide you to create a useful disclosure. Work with everyone on your team to prepare the answers (we suggest using the Word-fillable form in a shared Box folder to collaborate in real time), then enter the information into the Online Innovation Disclosure Portal by following these steps:

  1. Ensure that you are already logged into your SSO in any other USU application on your computer
  2. Then go to the Online Disclosure Portal
  3. Choose "Log in with Microsoft IDP"
  4. Select the "NEW" button in the upper right corner and follow the instructions found there

If you have any questions regarding the disclosure, the technology transfer process, or intellectual property protection strategies (e.g., patenting, copyrighting, etc.), please contact Technology Transfer (TechTransfer@usu.edu). We look forward to working with you!
