Plant Variety Disclosures at USU

USU is impacting the yards and gardens of almond enthusiasts around the country. With the help of USU’s Technology Transfer Services (TTS) office, the Bonnie Almond Tree and the Ponderosa Almond Tree, both developed by USU researchers, are now being sold nationwide by Stark Bro’s Nursery and Orchards, a leading provider of non-commercial trees and plants. 

Plant variety disclosures are one of four types offered by USU. Technology Transfer Services also helps with inventions, copyrights, and trademarks. When you disclose your intellectual property in the USU Inventor Portal, the TTS team will evaluate your disclosure based on market, patent, and commercial potential and work with you on possible commercial development, just like with these new almond trees. Revenue generated from commercial successes is shared between the creator and USU.
