Utah State Safety Committees

Utah State University is committed to creating a safe environment and a culture of institutional safety. The University takes safety extremely seriously and will work diligently to provide the necessary safeguards required to assure the safety and health of employees, students, and the public, as well as facilities, equipment, and other property. (USU Policy 337: Safety and Health).

The Utah State University Safety Committee strives to promote a university-wide culture of safety where individuals are safe to work, learn, and visit by actively identifying, preventing, and correcting safety concerns.

The USU Safety Committee serves every academic and administrative department. It is comprised of representatives from the four standing safety committees, USU’s eight academic College Safety Committees, Student Services, Finance & Administration, and Public Safety.

We are committed to safety at USU.

  • We provide necessary safeguards required to assure the safety and health of employees, students and the public.
  • We strive to reduce worker risk and improve prevention of illness and injuries.
  • All employees are required to comply with safety policy 337 and other safety guidelines.
  • Failure to follow these policies will result in appropriate action.

USU Safety Committee Tree. At the top is the USU Safety Committee, Chair. Under the USU Safety Committee, Chair but at the same same level are the Standing Safety Committees, the College Safety Committees, and the Administrative Safety Committees. Under the Standing Safety Committees are Radiation, Chemical Hygiene, IBC, and Field Safety. Under the College Safety Committees are CAAS, Art, Business, Education, Engineering, HASS, Natural Resources, and Science. Under the Administrative Safety Committees are Student Services, Administrative Services, and Public Safety.
