Biography

Dr. Srisharan Shreedharan is an Assistant Professor of Geomechanics and Geophysics at Utah State University, where he directs the Rock Deformation and Earthquake Mechanics (RDEM) Laboratory. His research uses laboratory experiments to understand how rocks and faults respond to stress, fluids, and temperature. This knowledge underpins the safe and reliable development of subsurface energy resources, including geothermal energy, as well as the management of induced seismicity and underground storage. Before joining USU in 2023, he completed his PhD at Penn State and was a Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Texas at Austin. He has published more than 25 peer-reviewed papers, sailed as a scientist on ocean drilling expedition to the Japan Trench and New Zealand, and secured over $ 2 million in federal research funding at USU. He is a recipient of the Jason Morgan Early Career Award from the Tectonophysics section of the American Geophysical Union.
