What is Aggie Talks?
Aggie Talks is a new community outreach initiative presented by Utah State University’s Office of Research in partnership with the Logan Library. The series provides a platform for USU researchers in the arts and humanities to share their scholarship with the public, fostering meaningful engagement between the university and the broader community it serves.
Presenters are drawn from a range of academic departments and disciplines, including English, World Languages and Cultures, History, and Philosophy, among others. Each presentation focuses on research that examines questions of culture, language, history, and the human experience.
Aggie Talks offers researchers the opportunity to present their work to a public audience in an accessible, non-specialist format. Each presentation is followed by a question-and-answer session, providing attendees the opportunity to engage directly with the presenter and to discuss the topic further with fellow community members.
Why Aggie Talks?
Designed to complement Research Landscapes, which focuses on environmental research, and Blue Plate Research, which focuses on health and wellbeing research, Aggie Talks extends this growing portfolio of public engagement series to the arts and humanities. The series connects research taking place at Utah State University with the broader community the university is a part of, presenting topics of public interest in an engaging, community-oriented format.
Research in fields such as English, World Languages and Cultures, History, and Philosophy offers important insight into culture, language, history, and the human experience. Through Aggie Talks, this scholarship is shared directly with the public, giving community members the opportunity to engage with current research and connect with the researchers behind it. In doing so, the series reflects Utah State University’s broader commitment to public engagement and its role as an active, contributing member of the communities it serves.
