About Blue Plate Research

Blue Plate Research is a new event series from Utah State University that highlights the discoveries and research efforts at USU in the areas of health and well-being, with a focus on sharing easy-to-understand research with Utah health advocates, statewide stakeholders, and the public.

The events will be hosted virtually on zoom, with our presenters sharing their research and how it's applicable to the everyday lives of people in Utah, followed by a live question and answer session. The presentation portion will be between 20-30 minutes, while the panel will run anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour.

While this event series is new, it grew out of a previous collaboration between Utah State University and Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Utah known as Sunrise Session, which featured quarterly research presentations in Salt Lake City. That series had thousands of attendees across more than 50 live events and was highly successful. Blue Plate Research will allow Utah State and Regence to continue their successful partnership with a more focused content direction, while building on the many successes of Sunrise Session.

Leading up to each event, this website will be updated with highlights of researchers at USU whose work is related to the presentation topic. Additional researchers are also highlighted on the Instead podcast, which is produced by the USU Office of Research.
