Research Description

This project investigates the integration of artificial intelligence, embedded computing, and real-time visual control to develop an intelligent LED animation system. Students will train an AI model to generate, predict, or select animation patterns and deploy the trained model on a Raspberry Pi to control an LED array in real time. The project will explore how AI models can be designed to operate efficiently on resource-constrained embedded hardware while producing smooth and responsive visual outputs.

Qualifications and Requirements

Preferred Majors:

  1. Mechanical Engineering
  2. Electrical Engineering
  3. Computer Science/Engineering

Students should have basic programming experience in Python, C/C++, MATLAB, or a similar language and an interest in combining AI with physical hardware. Experience with Raspberry Pi, Arduino, LED systems, embedded programming, or machine learning is desirable but not required. The most important qualifications are strong motivation to learn, hands-on problem-solving ability, and interest in AI and embedded systems. Students will receive training in the specific hardware, software, and AI methods needed for the project. This position will be paid.
