Research Description

lizzardDr. Charles Hanifin’s Biology research lab is currently seeking 2-3 student research assistants to help run reptile surveys at four national parks in Utah and Colorado. The project involves multiday field work, making it a great fit for students with an interest in the natural world. Survey work in parks typically involves significant amounts of hiking, some heavy lifting, and a willingness to handle nonvenomous snakes, lizards and amphibians.

The results of the surveys will go to National Parks Service personnel to help the parks meet a variety of management goals and to expand understanding of reptile populations in poorly studied regions of the North Colorado Plateau.

Qualifications and Requirements

Students of all majors and all levels of experience are welcome. The work will require hiking, heavy lifting, and handling of nonvenomous creatures.

Financial Compensation

Full pay, travel costs, and some lodging costs covered.
