In 1987, the University of North Carolina at Asheville imagined and created a national conference highlighting undergraduate research. That first conference had over 400 participants from all over the country.

Now held at varying locations all over the United States, the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) hosts up to 4,000 students annually! Getting involved in NCUR allows you the opportunity to disseminate your research both in person and remotely.

Preparation

NCUR is an interdisciplinary conference that focuses on completed, undergraduate-student-led research. Projects across all disciplines are welcomed, with numerous formats to showcase the nature of each work. In order to apply to NCUR, a student (or a group of students) must have completed an undergraduate-led research or creative project.

If you need help finding a mentor or a project, please get in touch with the Office of Research. We can help you find a place that is a good fit.

Application

To apply for NCUR, you will need to submit your project for review. For help polishing your application materials, consider an appointment with the Science Writing Center, which assists students across all colleges in research and technical communication.
