Student Spotlight: Jenna Hawley

Jenna Hawley — SURCO grant recipient — is working on research this summer involving vault proteins. Although vault proteins have been speculated to be connected with immune response, Jenna is working to help uncover the relationship between the proteins and innate immune response.
Jenna said she loves being able to go into the lab every day and have her own research project to work on — it’s something she’s always wanted to do.

"My project has the potential to become a high impact project. Since the function of vault proteins isn’t known, if my results look promising, it could become an integral part of a much larger project."
