Student Spotlight: Dana Sorensen

Dana Sorensen is from Alpine, Utah. He’s a Senior in College of Engineering, studying Computer Engineering. Sorensen said he saw undergraduate research as a good opportunity to get involved. “I didn’t really know what I was getting into but I applied for the honors program and the Undergraduate Research Fellow program was a great add on to that.” 

Sorensen said being a part of the URF program helped him get more involved with faculty and research on campus.  

Dana said he’s learned as much or more from his research projects than in his classes. “Classes give you a good theoretical background but the research has given me a lot of hands-on practical experience,” he said. “I think a lot of people who don’t get involved in research know in there head how it’s supposed to happen but don’t really know how to handle it when things don’t work.”
