Student Spotlight: Kira Anjewierden

Kira Anjewierden is a Music Therapy major. Music therapy is used to strengthen neural pathways and create a structure that resonates with someone.  

Kira said she struggled to find a project that was directly within her field but gained experience by participating in research in a related discipline.  

Kira’s research projects center around buildings statistics for the Musical Therapy program since the program is newer and doesn’t have the numbers yet.  

Kira said when it comes down to it research is everything new that we try. “Research is the only way to really gain any new knowledge,” she said.
