Student Spotlight: Jessica Christensen

Jessica Christensen is an Animal and Veterinary Science major. Her research aims to help farmers increase their profit by analyzing data from milking cows.  

“If we don’t ask questions and find the answers,” she said, “how can we ever progress?” 

Jessica created a guidebook for farmers who will be using the robotic milking system so that they can increase production and profit. She said when she first started out in research she hated cows and now all she does is send her family cow memes.   

Jessica’s career goals are to take her work with milk and create humanitarian opportunities with it, hopefully helping take milk to places that struggle with nutrition. 

“Research gives me the chance to go somewhere, to do something and to be something,” she said.
