Dr. Berreau earned a B.S. degree in Chemistry from Mankato State University, Minnesota (1990), and Ph.D. (1994) in Inorganic Chemistry from Iowa State University, under the direction of Professor L. Keith Woo.
Biography
Dr. Lisa M. Berreau is Vice President for Research (VPR) and Professor of Chemistry at Utah State University (USU). As VPR, Dr. Berreau works collaboratively with university leaders to advance USU as a Carnegie R1 research institution. She oversees the operational and compliance infrastructure to support the research enterprise and facilitate USU’s land grant mission.
Dr. Berreau has been on the faculty at USU since 1998 when she joined the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. As a tenured Professor, Dr. Berreau maintains an active research program in areas of synthetic and mechanistic chemistry, with current interests in the development of carbon monoxide delivery molecules for biological applications. Her research has been supported by multiple sources, including the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Berreau has published over 90 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters and made more than 60 invited presentations.
Among her professional accomplishments, Dr. Berreau is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Chemical Society (ACS). She is currently the chair-elect of the ACS Division of Inorganic Chemistry.
Dr. Berreau holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Her history at land grant institutions includes receiving her Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry at Iowa State University and postdoctoral training at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities.
