Nicole Vouvalis began working with the Office of Research as Director of the Human Research Protection Office in 2015. In that role, she oversees the review and approval of human subjects research, facilitates the review of research projects by the full Institutional Review Board, leads education and training efforts, and oversees the accreditation of Utah State University’s Human Research Protection Program. Nicole first came to Utah State University in 2012, serving as the Chair of the Diversity Council and Bias Response Team from 2012 – 2015. Nicole received her bachelor’s degree in political science and history from Florida State University in 2008, and her J.D. with honors from the FSU College of Law in 2010. Her research includes topics regarding the U.S. Supreme Court, largely focusing on factors influencing case outcomes and the Court’s relationship with state legal institutions. She also serves on the Governing Board for Bear River Charter School, and on the organizing committee for the Planned Parenthood Chocolate Festival.
