Professors Ron Gillam and Sandi Gillam in the Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services have spent more than two decades advancing research and intervention for children and adolescents with developmental language disorder, a neurodevelopmental condition affecting approximately 8 percent of children in the United States.

Mathematician Peter Crooks and Spanish literature scholar Felipe Valencia are recognized for excellence in research in diverse fields of study and for mentorship of students in preparation for meaningful careers.

Approximately 98% of infants born in the U.S. receive hearing screenings within one month of birth. It is the first step in ensuring that those with hearing differences have the best chance at success in building strong communication skills and supporting healthy socio-emotional and behavioral development.
